Designed for dive shops, charter operations and dive schools, the Start displays features found in much more expensive BC’s designed for personal ownership. Rental market BC often means getting bare bones – not from the Start. In fact, because it was designed with the demanding use of dive training and rental facilities in mind, this BCD will give you years and years of dependable personal diving use.
A combination of 500 and 1000 denier Cordura nylon means a virtually bullet-proof wearing BCD. With the Start you get excellent buoyancy, even on the smaller sizes. The BCD has three over-pressure relief/dump valves with two located on the left and right shoulders, and a third lower valves on the rear right of the air cell. All three can be manually dumped -- two with pull cords and the other with the power inflator mechanism. There are two plastic D-rings and two additional snap hooks for attachment of instruments and accessories. A large size indicator is great for picking your BC out on a crowded dive boat.
The Start has two over-sized accessory pockets with Velcro closures, and the adjustable sternum straps along with both torso straps are equipped with quick-release buckles. The waist strap/cummerbund assembly is independently suspended from the air cell allowing the air cell to inflate away from the diver preventing the “squeeze” effect when inflated. The back pack is rigid for support and stability of the cylinder, yet is fully padded for comfort.

Start was specifically created to meet the need to offer a very strong and indestructible jacket that would last longer even when subjected to the particularly demanding daily use of diving centres and renting.
Therefore, a combination of materials from the strongest that the market has to offer was chosen. The jacket is made entirely from 500 and 1000 denier Cordura.
The structure is traditional, but the bag is larger, to guarantee good buoyancy even on the smaller sizes, thus countering the typical habit that beginners have of using too much weight.
