2011 ScubaLab Dive Lights: Tester's Choice
If you’ve ever seen the TUSA Primary Dive Light 1000 in action, you will be impressed – even on a day dive, it’s incredibly bright, especially for its size. The TUSA LED is a powerful light, and small enough to easily fit into a BCD inside pocket. Housed in a rugged anodized aluminum bezel requiring no service, it’s depth-rated to 300ft/90m and is standard with an anatomically designed pistol grip.
“Burn time: 8 hours Weight: 13.5 oz. A slick pocket light, the IST Sports T-16 LED Sunny requires only three batteries (IST provides a fourth “dummy” battery with each light). This makes the Sunny more economical to operate, while still delivering more burn time than many other lights that also run on four C batteries. Recording the second-highest EV reading in its class, this pocket torch generates a very hot spot beam 13 inches in diameter, surrounded by a very bright, wide halo that reaches out more than three feet from center, providing lots of periphery illumination. It’s almost like a combo spotlight and floodlight. The light head and battery casing are protected from the elements with a double O-ring seal. The swivel-lever switch can be activated one-handed, and it comes with a safety lock. The Sunny is depth rated to 200 feet and comes with a wrist lanyard. Note: Remember to use the dummy battery; using four C batteries can damage the circuit.”
